We're Glad You're Here!
Whether you're new to Charlotte or new to Christianity, Ascension is a place of welcome as you journey with Jesus. Here are some helpful answers to basic questions you may have about your first visit with us. If you don't see what you're looking for, contact us directly!
How Do I Get to Ascension? Where Do I Park?
We're easy to find. Just take the Kenilworth Ave. exit from the I-277 John Belk freeway and turn right. Ascension is located one-half mile south of the I-277 overpass. Turn right on Harding Pl. to access our parking lot.
City street parking may be available on Harding Pl. and E. Morehead St. (Sunday mornings only). Please follow all city parking regulations.
Route 6 (Kings Dr.) or 25 (Clanton/Midtown). Use the Morehead St. & Kenilworth Ave. bus stop.
Where Do I Go on Sunday Morning? When Should I Arrive?
Follow the signs for "Sanctuary". Our friendly greeters are your first point of contact--let them know it's your first time, and they will gladly help you.
It's a good idea to arrive about 10-15 minutes before the start time of the service. A music prelude is given approximately five minutes before the service as a way to help parishioners prepare themselves for worship.
What is the Style of Ascension's Worship?
We worship in a fresh approach to the liturgical, traditional style. You can refer to the Worship Info page for helpful info on what to expect on Sunday morning.
What About My Kids? Are Children Welcome?
Absolutely! We follow Jesus' example when He says, "let the little children come to me." Parents and guardians can find more information on the Worship Info page about how we serve families with children.
I Wasn't Raised Lutheran. Am I Welcome? What Do Lutherans Believe?
Everyone is welcome to join us in our worship, service to others, and fellowship. You can see more information here on what Lutherans believe.
For more information about the celebration of Holy Communion, please see our Worship Info page.
How Do I Get Involved in Serving My Community?
Ascension has a variety of regular and periodic opportunities for Christian service to our community, nation, and world. The Ascension Lutheran Soup Kitchen is a ministry to our local community and is an easy and fun way to get involved. You can also see a list of the ministries and organizations associated with Ascension on our resources page.
