Rev. Steven Newberg

Pastor

Rev. Steven E. Newberg was called October 16, 2016 by a unanimous vote to serve as pastor at Ascension Lutheran Church. Pastor Newberg was baptized and attended school at Immanuel Lutheran, the downtown grandmother parish of Grand Rapids, MI. He graduated from Hillsdale College, having studied History, and then from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. Ascension called him from Lutheran Church of the Lakes at Addison, MI, where he had served as pastor since June 28, 2009. He and his wife Tessa have been married since 2009 and have four children, August, Dietrich, Frederick and Magdalena.

Eric Hauck

Director of Music Ministry

A Rochester, New York native, Eric Hauck received a Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance from Nazareth College before serving at Ascension Lutheran Church. While in Rochester, Eric served as the Director of Music at Redeemer Lutheran Church while studying piano with Brian Preston and organ with Dr. Dianne Maynard. Before moving to Charlotte, Eric attended the University of South Carolina to study piano with Dr. Joseph Rackers. In addition to his work in sacred music, he also maintains a private piano studio where he teaches piano to both youth and adults.

Our parking lot is accessible from Harding Pl.

Street parking is permitted:

  • along the eastbound side of Harding Pl.
  • on E. Morehead St. on Sunday mornings only.

When parking on city streets, please remember to obey all city parking regulation signs. 

Public Transit:

CATS Transit Buses 6 (Kings Dr.) and 25 (Clanton/Midtown), use the Morehead @ Kenilworth Bus Stop.
