Christian Music Theater (CMT) is a one-week theater arts program for rising K-9 grade children. Now in its eighth year at Ascension Lutheran Church, CMT emphasizes respect for creation and Creator while focusing on music, drama, dance, and art. At the end of the week, the participants put on a full-length performance with songs, spoken lines, choreography, and sets and costumes they helped design. Every child is in the performance!
CMT is June 24-29. Registration is OPEN and is first-come, first-serve, to the first 50 participants. Registration will close Memorial Day weekend.
CMT is a daily program that operates from Monday-Friday 9:00 AM -- 3:00 PM, and Saturday from 9:00 AM -- 1:00 PM. The performance is on Saturday night. Working parents will appreciate the ability to add on after-camp childcare, where a professional caregiver can watch your child until 6:00 PM, Monday-Friday.
Children are broken up into three groups based on their age and grade level. The daily schedule includes rotations through the four classes, with appropriate levels of content based on the age of each group, as well as recess, lunch, and snack time. Each child receives a script and a rehearsal CD to help them memorize their songs. Children bring their own sack lunch, and CMT provides a healthy morning and afternoon snack.
On Saturday, we run through the performance in the morning, end with a fun activity, and then children go home and return for the performance at 5:00 PM.
CMT base tuition for 2019 is $200 per child.
Discounts are offered for returning participants who registered for CMT in 2018, and households with more than one child.
Need-based scholarships may be available. If you would like to apply for a scholarship, please register for CMT first. You may apply for a scholarship after we contact you following your registration.
Remember, we are limiting our registration to the first 50 participants who register and confirm their registration by remitting payment or submitting a scholarship request. If you wait too long to register, you will be put on a waitlist.
