Dear Friends,

Here is my update re my recent activities, and what’s upcoming in the next few months.

Speaking and Sharing

I was delighted to be able to speak and share about my ministry to various groups and churches over the summer months. In Charlotte—Carmel Presbyterian (Knowing the Word class), Third Presbyterian (adult class and the morning sermon), Providence United Methodist (Christian Home class), Forest Hill (Forest Fellowship class and the mission committee), and also meals and sharing with friends and supporters at two retirement homes: Aldersgate and Plantation Estates. In Greenville, SC, I shared with a group of the adult SS classes at Trinity United Methodist. Pictures from some of these wonderful times are included in this NL. In September I am looking forward to being with the adult SS class at Covenant United Methodist in Charlotte, facilitating a day of Reflection and Prayer for the Laurel Ridge Development where I live in Black Mountain, and sharing with the King of Glory church near Asheville.

Fall Travels, Training, and Activities

I will be in Texas for almost a month (the latter part of September until mid-October). I will be doing a variety of things at our Dallas International Center, and I will also be facilitating the Training Leaders for Reflection and Prayer Days and Short Retreats at Brookhaven Retreat, which is located nearby—as usual, the participants will be coming from many places around the world. When I return from Dallas, I will be speaking at the Blue Ridge Bible Church in Fletcher, and doing the following in Charlotte: facilitating a day of Reflection and Prayer for the Carmel Presbyterian Church Women, speaking to the Chipley class at Providence United Methodist, and sharing with the St. Monica group at Ascension Lutheran.

Then from mid-November until the early part of December I will be in Chiang Mai, Thailand—again doing the Reflection and Prayer Training for the Asia Area. More about that in my next newsletter!

A Special Ministry

In late August, I attended a seminar conducted by Reaching Muslims in America. I had found out about this seminar through some materials that were shared at our JAARS Center in Waxhaw. It was indeed an eye-opener for me, and I would like to tell you a bit about this ministry.

Reaching Muslims in America (ReMIA) exists for the purpose of challenging the U.S. Body of Christ (church) to engage in and fulfill its God-given purpose of loving their Muslim neighbors and presenting the Gospel to them, and to do it quickly. ReMIA’s program is to:

  • Create awareness in the Body of Christ about the increasing number of Muslims in the U.S. and the need to share Christ.
  • Facilitate training in how to reach Muslims for Christ in love.
  • Maintain an events calendar of opportunities for interested parties to help distribute evangelistic resources to Muslims.
  • Create and promote strategies for reaching Muslims, as well as partner with ministries to connect you with those near you who are already engaged in the outreach to Muslims.
  • Raise resources and funds for helping those reaching out to Muslims.
  • Be a source for evangelistic materials and tools to reach Muslims that are some of the most effective means of sharing Christ with them. Their primary resources are ‘The Jesus Film’ in the sixteen primary languages of Islam plus various printed materials.

This is a nation-wide call to the American Church. Each one of us has a responsibility to learn how to effectively share Christ with Muslims, seek them out in our neighborhoods, and share the Gospel with them in love.

ReMIA wants to be your first and easiest resource in reaching Muslims—for you, your church, your college campus ministries, prison ministries, and the body of Christ in America. For more information, please write info@reachingmuslims.com, and please join them in prayer and action in reaching the Muslims among us for Christ.
